What can you tell about scent and Aromatherapy?
Scent is very powerful, it is the first sense that a baby is able to employ after is birth. When we experience scents it brings back memories of the past, like a good coffee, or baked goods that our mothers prepared.
Aromatherapy is used in two forms inhalation and topical use; it is considered to be an alternative to traditional Western medicine. Other forms of alternative medicine are acupuncture, naturopathy, herbals (Chinese and Western), and chiropractic professions. Using different modes of healing gives a wider range of possible solutions for individual needs. Different modes of healing have been used for thousand of years by human beings all over the world. Alternative forms of medicine were used in old times, long before the invention of aspirin. Recently, the method of distillation/extraction of essential oils has become more advanced and still continues to evolve. This brings us closer to our roots as humans, working together with nature to heal and inspire us.
Aromatherapy is also considered holistic meaning body mind connection, when we experience a healing aroma it elates our senses. When we bath or spread lotion on our body our psyche improves instantaneously.
Where does the term Aromatherapy come from?
It was coined by Rene- Maurice Gattefosse French chemist in the 1920, He burned himself in his lab and thrust his arm in lavender essential oil. His armed healed much faster and without much complication. In the literal meaning it says that therapy is done with aroma.
What are essential oils?
Essential oils are volatile essences derived from plants, including roots, wood, leaves, herbs fruits, seeds, resins and spices. Similar to the vitamins we derive from the foods we eat, essential oils benefit our health.
Essential oils can be extracted by steam distillation, CO2 extraction, absolutes, and cold press methods.
After being extracted, they are ready to use. Many oils continue to develop their properties after they have been removed from their source. This also means that the quality of oils can become diminished.
Essential oils reach people on many different levels, physical and emotional. Essential oils have many attributes; some are the ability to be healing, energizing, and even relaxing.
Sometimes essentials oils can smell exactly like the source, or very different. Different locations in the world affect the final aroma of essential oils. For example, lavender from France smells differently than lavender from Bulgaria.

Why is it better to use oils from plants, versus scented chemicals produced in laboratories?
A few hundreds years ago, chemical substances replaced essential oils as the main component in perfumes because it was cheaper to make chemical substitutes instead of using the real thing.
Nowadays, a many commercial companies have found it trendy to use essential oils as supplements to their chemical based products.
Natural directly from nature is always the best because the scent is much more complex, deep, and people can relate/connect to aroma on a spiritual level.
